In this episode of The Managerโs Playbook, Russ reveals what it really takes to build a $100M independent artist empire on your own terms.
From owning his masters to mastering his mind, Russ opens up about the risks of holding music too long, how he built a loyal fanbase without a major label, and why staying mentally and emotionally grounded is the real flex. We talk about revenue, motivation, visuals, mental health, and the crucial role of mentorship and team alignment.
Russ shares rare insight into the highs, lows, and lessons of being a truly independent global artist. Whether youโre an artist, manager, or entrepreneur, this episode is full of game.
Simply put, a conversation like this doesnโt come cheap.

Yea shame gets triggered if you run off dark motivation and if your worth is effected by your passions road blocks thatโs a recipe for unfulfillment. Makes so much sense itโs making bills.๐ธ

I read the Artists Way and I am gonna read Russ' book next. I've put out 10 songs this year, and I've written several more. I've started a series of videos on my channel where I sample influential artists in my life and make boom bap from them. I'm getting ready to drop an EP in August and have another one planned for January. These records will take this thing to another level. I'm just oozing creativity listening to my heroes speak and following instructions. This dude is mad inspiring, fr. LรRE

The first line he said: I've been holding onto 1 singular album that has taken 2 years to make, album has medium to massive features. I've perfected every song vocally, perfected the production end with producers from Halsey's BADLANDS album, and all else is near perfected. Though fear of loss, lack of cinematography & lack of press budget are the only factors that have halted me putting this out.
I let fear & lack of resources hold me back daily. The "it" cinematographers charge $15,000 for medium work. Press companies charge $250,000 for entry level exposure.
It's a flawed pyramid-scheme system where only the CURRENTLY rich have a chance (and only a chance). Other than that: TikTok, Prayers & Luck. Talent isn't heard or cared for anymore, only Interscope brands are heard.
